Schär corn: Guaranteed to be natural!

Rich in nutrients, tasty and, above all, naturally gluten-free: There are many reasons why corn is an ideal raw ingredient for the production of gluten-free food. Schär has been using the golden-yellow kernels of the corn plant in its production for years, and one year ago the company went a step further. Schär has undertaken the cultivation of this essential raw ingredient, which is an ingredient of the majority of Schär products, itself.
Cultivation: natural and gentle
In order to be completely sure that the processed corn meets all requirements, following intensive research work in its in-house "Research & Development" department, Schär decided to work together with selected farmers who would be given personal instruction and intensive advice from a trained Schär employee on growing corn using natural and gentle methods. Schär can therefore be sure that the different varieties of corn which are used in its natural, gluten-free products also meet with the most stringent of quality demands.
Consistent controls right from the start
The inspections start even before the sowing in order to guarantee that there is no suspicion of there having been any genetic manipulation of the seeds, Schär only purchases DNA-certified seeds and then carries out a double-check on random samples. In addition, we only purchase varieties which have special growth properties and which are resistant against dryness and diseases.
Professional processing for the highest quality
During the growth, the different treatment measures, the standard-conformant fertilisation of crops using entirely harmless substances and the proceeding growth phases of the plants are regularly re-examined. Finally, the harvest, which is carried out at a precisely stipulated time to ensure quality, is carried out professionally using modern machines and trained workers. Then the corn kernels are dried using indirect heat to avoid the occurrence of residues before the corn is ground in our own corn mills according to the strictest regulations, and then it is finally processed into the delicious gluten-free Schär products.
